What is a Fuel Vapour Valve?
A fuel vapour valve (or DPF vaporiser) is a dedicated fuel injector situated upstream of the Diesel Particulate Filter. It atomises fuel into the exhaust gas to raise catalyst temperatures and burn off trapped soot without bore-washing engine cylinders.
Why Do Fuel Vapour Valves Fail?
Carbon soot build-up severely clogs the fine injection tip, preventing fuel flow. Internal glow plugs or heating elements within the vaporiser body can also short circuit, or internal solenoid seals can degrade over time.
Symptoms of a Faulty Fuel Vapour Valve
Common symptoms include failed or incomplete DPF regenerations, rapid DPF soot accumulation, limp home mode, increased engine oil dilution, or diagnostic fault codes such as P2682, P2683, P244C, or P2463.
